All behavioral health counselors and therapists have a code of ethics, a set of principles that guide decision making, behavior and therapeutic practices.

The NASW, aka the National Association of Social Workers is the largest membership organization for social workers, representing social workers all over the world.

They work to enhance professional growth of their members and promote and advance exemplary professional standards and policies. Part of the mission of NASW is also to advance social work within the confounds of enhancing individuals, families and communities.

Their ethical guidelines are meant to help guide the daily behavior of their member social workers, both Professional licensed Clinical Social Workers as well as non-licensed social workers.
